Newport Beach lifeguards earn over $100K a year

A city budget report shows that nearly all 13 full-time lifeguards are making more than $100,000 and two of them make more than double that.

Also, lifeguards with 30 years of service can retire at 50 years old with a 90 percent salary. The city is looking at cutting four positions to half-time, as well as scaling back pensions.
