Review: Horrible Bosses

Rating: R for crude and sexual content, pervasive language and some drug material.
Most people in the workforce can identify with issues with their boss.

"Horrible Bosses" wastes no time establishing just how bad some people in authority can truly be hated.

Nick (Jason Bateman) probably has the worst out of the lot. He is the subordinate to Dave Harken (Kevin Spacey) who is absolutely ruthless in how he treats the entire office but specifically terrible to, after years of sucking up, Nick, who still gets passed over for a promotion he was promised and decides then that Dave needs to go.

Kurt (Jason Sudeikis) actually loves his boss Jack (Donald Sutherland). His problem doesn't come until Jack dies suddenly and is preceded by his cocaine-addicted son Bobby (Colin Farrel). When Bobby plans to run the business into the ground and forces Kurt to either fire one of two people for no legitimate reason or lose his job, Kurt determines he would rather live without his boss.

Dale (Charlie Day) has a horrible boss that wants to sleep with him (poor guy). He receives no sympathy from his two friends since his boss is Julia Harris D.D.S. (Jennifer Aniston). However, the sexual harassment is so overbearing for recently engaged Dale, he wants to get rid of his boss as well.

As one of the best put together comedies of the year, "Horrible Bosses" does a tremendous job of making us sympathize with three friends. Not only does it bring out a side of Jennifer Aniston I thought not possible, but it also nearly got me to dislike her as well. Jennifer Aniston! America's sweetheart disliked? Who would have thought it possible, yet Horrible Bosses does just that and in a way that is utterly hilarious.

What started out as just chit chat between friends while drinking turns into feasible ideas about the demise of their respective bosses. In order to keep themselves from being implicated, they journey to the bad part of town to find someone capable of murder for hire. They find Dean MF Jones (Jamie Foxx) who despite a small role does in fact provide a few laughs. Especially how he makes them all believe he is a killer and cheats them out of their money forcing them to do the deed themselves. I do wish there was more from Colin Farrel, as we did not see him and his character enough.

Feeling a bit like Throw Momma from the Train which was even referenced at one point, "Horrible Bosses" is a very refreshing comedy that keeps the laughs coming. Be sure to stick around for the end credits.
