The colorful, flashing display was first spotted moving west to east about 7:45 p.m.
An ABC7 employee saw the fireball while driving home to Pasadena. He said it looked like a meteor.
Others who called Eyewitness News said it was too big and fiery to be a meteor.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Weather Service say they took several calls about the mystery object.
