Manicures may increase risk of developing cancer

LOS ANGELES

According to dermatologists, one exposure to a nail dryer is about the equivalent of a session at a tanning salon. If you're making weekly trips to the nail salon, that's potentially a lot of exposure to unwanted ultraviolet rays.

A safer alternative is getting your nails done in front of a fan.

Doctors say skin cancers can develop years later, even decades, after exposure.
