Sheriff's detectives were summoned to /*Loma Linda University Children's Hospital*/ Tuesday afternoon by employees who reported an 8-month-old boy was suspected of being a victim of abuse.
The boy was admitted to the hospital on Thursday for treatment of low body weight and for bruises and scratches to his head and ear. The boy was found to have a fractured left femur, according to the sheriff's dept.
Detectives and a social worker from the Dept. of Children and Family Services went to the mother's residence on the 14500 block of Yarrow Court in Adelanto and arrested 20-year-old Melissa Fearn on suspicion of willful cruelty to a child.
The 8-month-old's female twin sister was taken into protective custody at the residence.
Fearn was booked at the San Bernardino Sheriff's Central Detention Center on $50,000 bail.
