A standoff between police and a suspect barricaded inside a market prompted the evacuation of a Baldwin Park shopping center Saturday night.

It happened at La Blanquita Meat Market on East Los Angeles Street and Jerry Avenue. No one was hurt.

Police said they spotted a man acting suspiciously. They said he was a parolee they were familiar with.

When police confronted him, the man took off running and barricaded himself inside the market.

The business was evacuated and the suspect turned himself in after about 30 minutes. The suspect did not hold anyone hostage.

Officers found fire arms inside the store.
