'Chronicle' takes No. 1 spot in weekend box office

"Chronicle" premiered at No. 1in the weekend box office, bumping last week's top film, "The Grey," to No. 3.

The new movie "Chronicle" was No. 1 at the box office this weekend, making $22 million. The film is a story about three teenagers who discover they have special powers.

Daniel Radcliffe's newest film, "The Woman in Black," also debuted at the box office this weekend, but it came in second place.

However, the No. 1 and No. 2 movies are close enough that the rankings could change when final numbers are released tomorrow.

Last weekend's box office topper, "The Grey," was knocked to third this weekend with $9.5 million. "Big Miracle" came in fourth, while "Underworld Awakening" rounded out the top five.

The top films of the weekend were:

1. "Chronicle," $22 million ($13 million international).
2. "The Woman in Black," $21 million.
3. "The Grey," $9.5 million ($1.4 million international).
4. "Big Miracle," $8.5 million ($300,000 international).
5. "Underworld Awakening," $5.6 million ($11.9 million international).
6. "One for the Money," $5.3 million.
7. "Red Tails," $5 million.
8. "The Descendants," $4.6 million ($11.2 million international).
9. "Man on a Ledge," $4.5 million ($6.2 million international).
10. "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close," $3.9 million.
