OC boy will be the youngest to attempt Mt. Kilimanjaro

YORBA LINDA, Calif.

Tyler Armstrong, 8, set a record last summer as the youngest person to climb Mount Whitney in a single day. Mt. Whitney, in California, is the highest summit in the lower 48 states

Armstrong is scheduled tackle Mt. Kilimanjaro in June. Mt. Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa one of the highest mountains in the world, to raise money to help cure Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is an inherited disease that affects one in every 3,500 boys, including a friend of Armstrong's, 12-year-old Suhail Zaveri of Anaheim.

"I am doing this climb to help Suhail and other boys my age that have Duchenne because most of them have a hard time even walking," said Tyler.
