In August 2007, 58-year-old Maria Hicks honked her horn and flashed her lights when she spotted a group spraying graffiti on a wall in Pico Rivera.
That's when Angel Rojas, now 21, shot three to five rounds at Hicks. She was struck once in the head and died three days later.
In February, Rojas was convicted of first-degree murder and street terrorism. Three other members of the tagging group were also convicted in the case.
