Coachella cruise to take music lovers to Bahamas, Jamaica; Pulp, Hot Chip are headliners

LOS ANGELES

Organizers of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival announced Tuesday their first branded cruise that will take festivalgoers to the Bahamas on Dec. 16-19 and to Jamaica on Dec. 19-23.

For Southern Californians, that likely means a flight to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., first, because that's where both cruises will depart.

Pulp, Hot Chip, Yeasayer and Girl Talk are the headliners, with other acts that include The Rapture, Warpaint and Simian Mobile Disco. The same lineup will play both voyages.

Los Angeles-based promoter Goldenvoice, organizer of Coachella, called the cruises "a rare opportunity to see Coachella artists in an intimate setting." The company says the ship has a dozen dining areas, nine bars, a spa, a pool deck and several live music settings. Other activities are planned, including a "surprise," they say.

So, how much will it cost you? Prices start at $500 per person and can run into the thousands. Payment plans are available with $250 due at time of purchase.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. Reservations can be made at ss.coachella.com.
