Boy, 12, shoots girl, 11, in San Bernardino town

A 12-year-old boy accidentally shot an 11-year-old girl with a handgun Sunday in the San Bernardino Mountains, authorities said.

The victim was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, where she was treated for the wound and was listed in good condition.

San Bernardino County sheriff's officials said the shooting happened sometime around noon near a home in the 6000 block of Mountain Home Creek Road in the small town of Angelus Oaks, south of Big Bear Lake.

Deputies said they were investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and storage of the firearm.
