Huntington Beach Bank of the West robbery suspect sought

A search is under way for a robbery suspect who hit a Bank of the West branch in Huntington Beach.

The suspect entered the bank located at Brookhurst Street and Garfield Avenue at about 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Police say he demanded money from a teller, who complied.

According to police, the suspect then fled the area with an undisclosed amount of money.

Authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect, who is described as a black man in his early 40s, between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build, goatee and a moustache.

Huntington Beach police say he may be responsible for other robberies in the Orange County area including Westminster.
