Elephant calf rescued from 5-foot Kenyan well

LOS ANGELES

Rescuers with the Amboseli Trust for Elephants arrived to find the anxious mother trying to get her 8-month-old calf out from the 5-foot hole n a Kenyan national park that lies in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro.

After several muddy attempts, rescuers got a rope around the calf and pulled it out with the help of an SUV.

After the rescue, the baby elephant ran toward its mother, who then embraced her baby. Footage of the ordeal, which was posted on YouTube, gained a mass of viewers on Thursday.
