Burbank Bob Hope Airport runway lights fixed

BURBANK, Calif.

The airport's main takeoff runway, known as runway 1-5, was in the dark Thursday night. Airport crews fixed the lights at about 5:30 a.m. Friday, quelling concerns over nighttime flight cancellations.

The airport did not shutdown. The decision to take off on a runway without lights was left up to individual airlines. Early evening, a few Southwest planes took off, the airline soon canceled all 13 flights of its remaining flights along with 10 scheduled arrivals.

Some passengers were shuttled to other airports, creating inconveniences for many travelers.
