Stevie Wonder cancels Israeli benefit concert

WASHINGTON

The legendary singer was scheduled to perform at the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces gala in Los Angeles on Dec. 6.

The United Nations recommended Wonder cancel the performance because he serves as a United Nations "Messenger of Peace".

Amidst ongoing conflict in the Middle East and rising tensions between Israel and Palestine, the respected artist decided to axe his appearance.

"I am and have always been against war, any war, anywhere," said Wonder in statement.
