According to Las Vegas police spokeswoman Laura Meltzer, the shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. A man standing in the lobby by the registration area apparently shot a woman standing near him. He then turned the gun on himself and died at the scene. The woman was hospitalized in critical condition and later died.
It did not appear that anyone else was hurt in the incident. Part of the hotel was cordoned off for an investigation, but the rest of the hotel remained operational. The investigation is ongoing.
