Small plane crashes in Big Bear Lake; no one hurt

BIG BEAR CITY, Calif.

The plane crashed at 10:40 a.m. There were five passengers aboard the single-engine Beechcraft, including a 5 year old. Everybody inside managed to safely wade out of the shallow water. No one was seriously hurt, though officials say some of them did suffer minor cuts and bruises.

The pilot had radioed moments before it happened, saying he was having engine trouble. He was cleared to land at the airport, but lost altitude and came up short.

The craft landed in the water near the lake's south shore. The plane's flight origination was not immediately.
