LA firefighters honored at Newport Beach Film Festival for cross-country 9/11 tribute ride

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.

In July 2011, the six firefighters traveled 3,300 miles from Los Angeles to New York in 45 days. Along the way, they stayed at firehouses and endured severe weather and injuries.

The firefighters were featured in the new documentary "Let's Roll," which premiered Saturday at the Newport Beach Film Festival. All six attended the premiere.

"It was really a heartwarming experience for us," said Jim Prabhu, one of the riders. "We were honored to ride on behalf of the guys, the 345 firefighters that lost their lives."

"I think the fire department is always there to help the public and try to support everybody," said another rider, Jorge Ostrovsky.

"Let's Roll" will screen again at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday. Tickets can be purchased on the Newport Beach Film Festival website at www.newportbeachfilmfest.com/2013.
