The latest installment of the action franchise pulled in around $35 million this week, bringing its worldwide gross to nearly $500 million.
The second place finisher was a bit of a surprise. Surpassing industry estimates, the heist movie, "Now You See Me," made $28 million in its weekend debut.
The post-apocalyptic "After Earth" came in third, with $27 million.
And tied for fourth was the animated film "Epic" and the sci-fi action flick "Star Trek: Into Darkness," both taking in $16.4 million.
The top 10 films of the weekend were:
1. "Fast & Furious 6," $34.5 million ($75 million international).
2. "Now You See Me," $28.05 million. ($600,000 international).
3. "After Earth," $27 million ($2.6 million international).
