The National Weather Service says monsoonal moisture is bringing a chance of showers and thunderstorms to Los Angeles and Ventura counties through Friday evening. A flash flood watch was in effect for the mountains and high desert until 8 p.m. Thunderstorms and a potential for heavy rainfall could develop over the Antelope Valley and Los Angeles County mountains. Parts of the Southland were hit with rain in the early morning hours.
A semi truck overturned in Pasadena, and investigators believe slick roads may have contributed to the accident. The truck overturned on the 210 West near the 134 transition around 3 a.m. The California Highway Patrol says the driver lost control and the truck overturned. The CHP also said it was raining at the time of the accident. The driver was transported to a hospital but was not seriously injured.
Along with rain, the storm also created a ruckus of thunder and lightning in eastern Los Angeles County and parts of Orange County in the early morning hours. Mother Nature's show could be seen from areas east of Dodger Stadium down into Fullerton. The Inland Empire also saw scattered showers throughout Friday.
