US Army guards continue watch at Tomb of the Unknown Soldier during East Coast blizzard

ARLINGTON, Va. (KABC) -- There may be a blizzard on the East Coast, but that hasn't stopped sentinels from guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.

The guards from the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) continue to keep a watchful eye on the tomb despite more than a dozen inches of snow pelting the area.

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a monument dedicated to unidentified U.S. service members killed in action. The U.S. Army guards have kept an eye on the tomb since 1948.

The massive nor'easter brought hurricane-force winds to many states on the East Coast, shutting down roads, halting flights and stranding thousands of travelers.
