SHADOW HILLS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A woman was killed in a high-speed crash in Shadow Hills Friday morning, Los Angeles police said.

According to the LAPD, the victim and another driver were reportedly weaving in and out of traffic at an excessive rate of speed eastbound on Sunland Boulevard. The victim lost control of her black Infiniti and crashed into a power pole near Sunland Boulevard and La Canada Way around midnight.

The victim, only identified as a 38-year-old Hispanic woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver in the second vehicle pulled over and called 911. He was arrested and will face a serious charge, but officials did not elaborate on what that charge will be.

Police are not calling the incident a street-racing case, but they say the two drivers knew each other.

"We do know that they knew each other, apparently, from the early reports that we have," said LAPD Det. Bill Bustos. "We will establish what their relationship was, where they met."
