PICO RIVERA, Calif. (KABC) -- A 17-year-old from Pico Rivera has been charged with the fatal stabbing of his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend at her home, officials said Wednesday.
Rory Murga has been charged as an adult with one count of murder.
He is accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend, Elena Lillian Moore, at her Pico Rivera home about two weeks after she ended their one-year relationship.
Murga is expected to be arraigned Thursday in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Downey and prosecutors intend to ask for $2 million bail.
Prosecutors say Murga entered Moore's home in the early morning of Aug. 12, stabbed her multiple times and then fled the area. Paramedics later pronounced her dead at the scene.
Murga was found in Pico Rivera on Aug. 16 and arrested.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said Murga faces a possible maximum sentence of 26 years to life if convicted.
