Woman found shot to death in car in Glassell Park

GLASSELL PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An investigation was underway after a woman was found shot to death in a car in Glassell Park early Tuesday morning.

Los Angeles police received a report of shots fired in the 3200 block of Isabel Drive near Avenue 33 at around 2:50 a.m.

Responding officers found the victim, described to be between 30 and 35 years old, in a car parked on a driveway outside of a home. Investigators did not specify if she was in the driver, passenger or back seat.

After authorities searched the home, two females and two males, all adults, were detained for questioning. Their involvement, if any, in the incident was unclear.

Investigators were searching for a male suspect, possibly armed. Officers were seen searching a home on Division Street, but the suspect was not found. A weapon was not found and no arrests were made.

Police were asking area residents to shelter in place and lock their doors as a precaution during the active search, which was called off as of 5 a.m.

The circumstances behind the shooting remain unknown. Investigators were waiting on search warrants to look inside the car and home for evidence.

Some residents say the neighborhood's problems stem from a notorious street gang.

"I heard nothing overnight but that's nothing unusual because almost constantly, we have problems in this area. All the time. We do not have control of our community here," said John Kavanaugh, a Glassell Park resident.

The identity of the victim was not released.
