SANTA MONICA, Calif. (KABC) -- Southern Californians headed to the beach on Sunday are being warned to watch out for potentially dangerous high tides.
A beach hazard statement has been issued for coastal areas in Los Angeles, Ventura and Orange counties from 7 a.m. through midnight, according to the National Weather Service.
A high tide of about 7 feet is expected to hit anywhere between 7 and 9 p.m., experts say.

Beach erosion and tidal overflow are also possible.
The strong waves have been ongoing throughout the weekend. Lifeguards in Santa Monica said they rescued 75 people on Saturday alone.
A beach hazard statement is issued when threats to beach and surf zone areas are expected. Caution should be used when in or near water, according to the NWS.
