NAPA VALLEY, Calif. -- Second-generation vintner John Anthony Truchard has his heritage rooted in the Napa Valley. He learned the art of traditional winegrowing from his father along with other pioneering Napa Valley vintners.
Today, he focuses on telling his story through terroir-driven wines, as well as giving back to the community as the Founder and CEO of John Anthony Family of Wines.
"The goal here is to create an environment where people can forget about their lives for a moment, come and relax and have a great time in the Napa Valley," said Truchard.
He added, "Part of the motivation for giving back through donations is a way of showing gratitude."
Giving back to the community has always gone hand in hand with John's philosophy. John Anthony Family of Wines philanthropic efforts support The V Foundation for Cancer Research, Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation, Napa Valley Grapegrowers, and many more.
"Everyone can give something," expressed Truchard. "As our business grew a little bit, we were like, 'okay, we can give a little bit more.'"
He added, "We just continued to do that, and we try to find causes that are important to us and those causes...involve children, involve education, involve healthcare."
John's goal of growing the business helps with giving back. He started JaM Cellars, John Anthony Vineyards, Serial Wines, and Weather Wines.
John works closely with his wife Michele, and they have 3 children.
"We're celebrating our 25 years of marriage this year," said Truchard. "It grows from the foundation that my mom and dad taught me in farming, hard work, and discipline."
He added, "If all of us leave the world a little better off than we found it, that's a good thing."
