BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A suspect who allegedly forced a woman into his vehicle with a folding knife and attempted to rape her outside of Eastside Luv bar in Boyle Heights early Saturday has been taken into custody after checking himself into a hospital with bite marks.

The incident occurred as the female victim left the bar located in the 1800 block of East 1st Street at about 3:30 a.m.

Police say the woman was able to fight the suspect off and get away. Investigators suspected the man suffered bite marks to his face and forearm as the victim forced him off of her.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, between 20 and 25 years old, standing about 5 foot 4 inches tall.

A man matching the suspect's description and injuries later checked himself into a hospital. A hospital official alerted LAPD and the suspect was taken into custody.

The victim was treated for minor injuries and will be OK.

Anyone with further information was urged to contact the LAPD Hollenbeck Division.
