Nithya Raman jumps ahead of Spencer Pratt, sliding to 2nd place in race for LA mayor

In a new batch of election results released on Sunday, Nithya Raman overtook Spencer Pratt by only a few thousand votes, putting her in second place in the Los Angeles mayoral election.
Pratt had held onto second place since election night on Tuesday, but Raman slowly began closing the gap as more results were tallied. On Saturday evening, there was only a 1% gap between the two candidates, with Pratt still in second place.
In the latest results, with 83% of the expected votes counted, incumbent Mayor Karen Bass is still leading the pack with 34.7% of the votes. Raman is in second place with 27.1% of the vote, and Pratt is trailing right behind her with 26.7% of the vote.
Approximately 50,000 votes were added in Sunday's batch of election results, and only about 3,000 votes separate Raman and Pratt.
ABC News projected Bass would advance to the November runoff on election night. ABC News has not yet projected who Bass' opponent will be in the November election.
