CA primary election results: California governor, Los Angeles mayor races now decided

Republican Steve Hilton will advance to the November general election and face Democrat Xavier Becerra in the California governor's race.

Republican Steve Hilton will face off against Democrat Xavier Becerra in the November general election for California governor, ABC News projects.

In Tuesday's drop of election results, with 88% of the expected votes counted, Becerra maintained his lead at 28% of the vote, and Hilton followed behind him with 25% of the vote.

Hilton led the pack a week ago on election night, but as more election results came in, Becerra rose to first place, and AP News projected he would advance to the November election on Friday.

As more ballots are counted, the votes in favor of Measure ER now outweigh the votes against it. The measure had been trailing since the results first started being announced on election night.

Measure ER -- which is a proposed temporary half-cent sales tax hike in Los Angeles County to fund healthcare services -- requires a simple majority to pass.

In the latest drop of election results on Monday, the "yes" votes outnumbered the "no" votes by 13,000 votes.

County officials say the measure would generate about $1 billion a year.

Councilwoman Nithya Raman will face off against incumbent Mayor Karen Bass in the November runoff election for Los Angeles mayor, AP News projects.

In an updated batch of election results on Monday, Bass maintained her lead with 34% of the vote, while Raman rose to 29% and former reality TV star Spencer Pratt stayed at 26%.

With the latest results, AP projected that Raman would advance to November.

With Monday's update, 93% of the expected votes have been counted. Approximately 46,000 votes separate Bass and Raman, while about 21,800 votes separate Raman and Pratt.

In the latest batch of election results on Monday, Democrat Xavier Becerra is still in the lead in the race for California governor. Meanwhile, the gap between second and third place continues to narrow.

With approximately 76% of the expected votes counted on Monday, Becerra maintained 27% of the vote. Republican Steve Hilton was behind him with 25% of the vote, followed by Democrat Tom Steyer in third place with 22% of the vote.

Between Sunday and Monday, Hilton dropped by one percentage point.

Previously, Hilton led the pack, but when more election results came in last week, Becerra rose to first place, and AP News projected he would advance to the November election. It is still undecided which additional candidate will advance.

As of Monday, there is about a 138,500-vote difference between Becerra and Hilton, and a 250,600-vote difference between Hilton and Steyer.
