ICE says 'targeted operations' are underway in Chicago
Amid fears of mass deportations and immigration raids in Chicago, ICE says it has begun targeted operations in the area.

President Donald Trump took a victory lap at a Las Vegas casino on Saturday after a five days of issuing executive orders on immigration, the economy, DEI and more.

Trump late Friday night stirred up outrage when he blindsided at least 17 inspectors general at multiple federal agencies by firing them in an email from the White House personnel office.

Meanwhile, two more of Trump's picks for his Cabinet -- Pete Hegseth as secretary of defense and Kristi Noem as secretary of Homeland Security -- were sworn in to office on Saturday.

Top DOJ official in Chicago to observe immigration enforcement operations

Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove, the top Trump appointee in the Justice Department, is currently in Chicago to "personally observe DHS immigration enforcement operations and support the efforts of FBI, DEA, ATF, USMS, and federal prosecutors who are assisting DHS in this critical mission," a DOJ spokesperson told ABC News.

The department declined to provide any additional details about Bove's precise location or the planned "enforcement operations" he will be overseeing.

His presence on the ground, however, further highlights how the Trump administration plans to involve the highest level officials at DOJ as part of its broader show of force on immigration enforcement.

Immigrations and Customs Enforcement said in a statement Sunday that it, "along with federal partners, including the FBI, ATF, DEA, CBP and the U.S. Marshals Service, began conducting enhanced targeted operations today in Chicago to enforce U.S. immigration law and preserve public safety and national security by keeping potentially dangerous criminal aliens out of our communities."

Coast Guard conducts removal flights to Texas, California

The Coast Guard said it's helping transport migrants who are in the country illegally and who are in locations where there aren't Defense Department assets.

In a Saturday news release, the Coast Guard said it is conducting flights between Texas and California to get migrants to DOD bases to be removed from the country.

"Border czar" Tom Homan said the Trump administration is planning to use military aircraft every day to help carry out large-scale deportations.

For the first time ever, the U.S. government is using military aircraft to transport migrants out of the U.S., Homan said.

Trump quips about rolling back environmental funding

Trump spoke to a crowd at the Circa Resort & Casino in Las Vegas to tout his "no tax on tips" proposal and other economic policies.

The president spent the early parts of the rally repeating his claims from the campaign trail and on inauguration day that the U.S. was in decline and prices were too high.

He also boasted many of his executive orders including having the U.S. leave the Paris Climate Agreement.

"Wasn't the environment supposed to eat us up like in 12 years? But that was like 13 years ago. What happened? We're still here," said Trump, who spent Friday visiting areas of North Carolina and California ravaged by recent natural disasters.

Oath Keeper founder on stage at Trump rally days after release

Just days after Trump commuted his 18-year sentence for his role in the Jan. 6 riot, Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes was on stage for Trump's Saturday speech at a Las Vegas casino.

Rhodes, who was convicted of seditious conspiracy for helping to organize the riot, has VIP seating on the stage where Trump is about to take the stage to promote his "no tax on tips" proposal.

Several Trump supporters at this event told ABC News they believe Trump has been carrying out his campaign promises, pointing out that he pardoned the Jan. 6 rioters.
