Maywood mayor found guilty of animal cruelty

MAYWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- Maywood Mayor Ramon Medina was found guilty Tuesday of neglecting to care for a sick dog that he kept at his auto repair shop.

Medina will be sentenced next month for animal cruelty.

The dog had a chronic illness and had not been taken to a veterinarian.

Prosecutors said the dog was emaciated and couldn't walk or eat, and had to be euthanized.
