BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (KABC) -- A "Millionaire Matchmaker" contestant has been arrested. John Bonavia is accused of attacking a woman in a Beverly Hills home.

Bonavia, 31, is charged with making criminal threats and domestic violence. He was arrested Sept. 12 after Beverly Hills police responded to the 200 block of Spalding Drive for a disturbing the peace call.

Police said when they went to the door, officers encountered an uncooperative male. They believed a woman was in distress inside, so officers kicked the door open, and that's when they say they found a woman with significant facial and upper-body injuries.

Bonavia, a financial adviser, was a contestant on Bravo's "Millionaire Matchmaker" in 2014. He is now being held without bail at the Men's Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles.

Bonavia is scheduled to be in court next Tuesday.

Another businessman who appeared on the show is also facing criminal charges.

Michael Bernback, 62, is accused of raping three women. A criminal complaint alleges that Bernback administered a controlled substance to one of the women and tied and bound another woman during an alleged attack.

Bernback was arrested Aug. 13 by Los Angeles police and released on $300,000 bail. He was taken into custody again Sept. 3 after his bail was increased to $2.1 million, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

If convicted, Bernback faces life in prison. He is due back in court Monday.
