LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A scheduled speech at UCLA by conservative firebrand Milo Yiannopoulos has been canceled.

The political commentator had been invited to speak at the school on Feb. 26. He had labeled his speech: "10 Things I Hate About Mexico."

The Bruin Republicans posted to Facebook on Wednesday confirming that the Yiannopoulos event was canceled.

The student group said it scrubbed the event because leadership was divided on whether the speech was a good idea - and that "public backlash" had nothing to do with the cancellation.

The group also said that it would post refund information on its website within the next few days for those who already purchased tickets to the event.
