FERNDALE, Wash. (KABC) -- A 4-year-old Washington state girl helped solve a robbery at her home that police say was carried out by her babysitter.

Abby Dean's 17-year-old babysitter was the mastermind behind Wednesday's caper, investigators said.

Authorities say the babysitter, her 16-year-old boyfriend and another male suspect carried out a fake home invasion. They claimed two armed black men were the suspects, and one of them looked like the neighbor.

The neighbor said police handcuffed him and questioned him for hours. But Dean told police he wasn't the right skin color.

Dean said the robbers took her kitty piggy bank, her iPod and her Wii.

"That was really, that was really her being bad, she's not a good babysitter," Dean said.

The babysitter later confessed. Dean's mother is proud of her.

All the stolen items were returned and the suspects may face charges. The neighbor said he hopes they learn a lesson from this.
