ANAHEIM, Calif. (KABC) -- A suspect has been arrested in connection to the fatal stabbing of a man in Anaheim, officials said.

The incident happened around 8:13 p.m. Sunday in the area of Cerritos Avenue and Perdido Street.

According to investigators, it appears the stabbing occurred during an altercation in the street between the suspect, 27-year-old Ruben Martinez, and the victim.

The victim, who was stabbed multiple times, was identified as 52-year-old Garden Grove resident Maximino Fuentes Clara. Clara had a dating relationship with Martinez's mother, but investigators have not determined a motive for the attack, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

The circumstances leading up to the dispute remain under investigation.

Martinez was arrested for murder and booked into the Orange County Jail with bail set at $1 million. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
