GUSTINE, Calif. (KABC) -- A Northern California principal was slashed in the face by two knife-wielding men just feet away from young students on campus.
Police in Merced County said the men somehow got onto the campus of Gustine Elementary School on Thursday and attacked the principal before getting away.
No students were injured.
The district said principal Ismael Munoz was released from a hospital after undergoing cosmetic surgery.
Parents are now concerned about their children's safety.
"You traumatized a bunch of our kids in town, and you better watch out because us mamas are watching," said Sunny Philips, a parent.
Officers will patrol the area to prevent anyone from coming on campus. Counselors will be on campus on Monday to help students who are anxious about what happened.
