SALT LAKE CITY -- A suspect has been identified in the vandalism found at National Parks across the West.

The National Park Service says 21-year-old Casey Nocket of New York state is suspected of painting on rock formations at various parks, including Yosemite, Death Valley and Joshua Tree.

Officials aren't saying exactly how she was identified, but she's the same so-called New York artist who had been named on several hiking blogs as the culprit.

The woman allegedly used Instagram and Tumblr to document her works during a summer trip. The park service began investigating Oct. 20.

Vandalizing national parks is a federal offense.
