VENTURA, Calif. (KABC) -- Firefighters worked on a fast-moving brush fire Thursday that erupted near the west side of Highway 33 in Ventura.
The blaze broke out near Casitas Vista Road and N. Ventura Avenue around 2:30 p.m., authorities said. It grew from one-quarter of an acre to 50 due to strong winds and has not been contained.
Air tankers were requested and structures in the area were threatened, authorities said. But by 5 p.m., authorities said the winds moved south, pushing the flames away from the buildings.
No further information was immediately available.
