NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man waiting for his vehicle at a car wash in North Hollywood was killed after being shot in the head during a confrontation with another man on Saturday.

The shooting took place at about 1:40 p.m. at Plaza Car Wash in the 6400 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard. Witnesses said the gunman had been acting strange, cursing, yelling, brandishing a weapon and even taking off his clothes.

The 25-year-old victim, later identified as Brian Pleytez, of Van Nuys, was shot in front of customers. Authorities initially said he was 35.

"The argument escalated. The suspect produced a handgun, shot the victim multiple times, got into his car and fled," LAPD Det. Richard Wheeler said.

Video shows several police officers with guns drawn taking a male suspect into custody about a block away from the car wash. A weapon was recovered.

Police were still investigating the scene, but said the incident may have been gang-related.
