Man killed in Whittier freak accident on Friday the 13th identified

WHITTIER, Calif. (KABC) -- A man who was killed in a freak accident on the northbound 605 Freeway in Whittier on Friday the 13th has been identified by coroner's officials.

Dong Hyun Kim, 34, of Norwalk was fatally struck by a semi-truck after surviving a crash down an embankment, authorities said.

Kim's car went over the side of the freeway near Whittier Boulevard at about 5:20 a.m. He then got out of his wrecked vehicle and climbed back up the embankment to the freeway, where he was struck and killed.
