PERRIS, Calif. (KABC) -- A member of the Perris City Council was arrested on methamphetamine charges Tuesday morning.



Perris police say Julio Rodriguez, 28, appeared to be under the influence when they found him in a hotel room on the 500 block of Redlands Avenue around 7:30 a.m.



Officers were responding to report of a theft. They also found drug paraphernalia and a small amount of methamphetamine during the course of the investigation.



Rodriguez was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled substance. His bail was set at $5,000.
