Man shot by sheriff's deputies after body found in trunk in Chino Hills

CHINO HILLS, Calif. (KABC) -- San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies shot a man after they found a body inside the trunk of a car in Chino Hills.

The incident unfolded late Wednesday night on Wandering Ridge Drive, according to the sheriff's department.

A surveillance camera from a home in the area shows what led up to those shots being fired. In the footage, a passenger gets out of the car. The driver also gets out, walks to the trunk and opens it before deputies open fire.

Authorities have not released any information about the body in the trunk of the car.

The condition of the driver who was shot was unclear. No deputies were hurt in the shooting.

The sheriff's department said in an Instagram post that there is no threat to the public and that there are no outstanding suspects.

"Residents can expect a continued law enforcement presence in the area as the investigation remains ongoing."
