BENICIA, Calif. -- A police officer's association in California bought a bicycle for a teenager after one cop discovered that he walks two hours each way to work every day.
An officer stopped 19-year-old Jourdan Duncan in Benicia last week and offered to give him a ride home.
That's when Duncan told him he's saving money for college and did not have a car or bicycle.
He told the officer he has been walking eight miles a day since May.
"I don't want to feel like I'm a burden to people, so I take the initiative to handle myself and where I need to go from point A to point B," said Duncan.
"There's not a lot of 19-year-olds out there that have this dedication. We just wanted to make sure he knows how much I appreciated what he's doing," said Benicia Officer Kirk Keffer.
Duncan says he was shocked and very grateful.
Duncan also got a helmet, a light for his bike and free tune-ups.
