MONTEBELLO, Calif. (KABC) -- A Southern California community was opening its arms to a young baseball team from central Mexico, which was suddenly stranded without a sponsor.
The teenagers came to California as part of their league play this summer, but said their sponsor in Mexico was no longer paying their expenses.
They're staying at the De Paul Evangelization Center in Montebello but were in need of meals and rides to their games through the end of the month.
"The community has come together so great. I mean, it's just an awesome thing that is going on with these kids. They came here and lost their sponsorship and my community here in Montebello has just pulled together through a post on Facebook," said community member Evelyn Morales.
Organizers also hoped someone will provide entertainment for the boys so they can do a little sightseeing while they're here. They said it is their dream to play in the U.S.
The team's next game was expected to take place on Sunday.
