Time to get the parade route on Marietta Street ready, if MLB The Show's crystal ball is correct.
After simulating the season, the game made predictions for 2023. It forecasts the Atlanta Braves will raise the World Series trophy at the end of the season, defeating the Houston Astros in a six-game series.
The American League MVP will be Yordan Alvarez of the Astros, while Pete Alonso of the New York Mets will take the honors in the National League. On the pitching side, Jacob deGrom will take home the Cy Young for the Texas Rangers, while Joe Musgrove will claim it for the San Diego Padres.
The Show predicts every division winner as well, with the Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago White Sox and Astros taking the division crowns in the American League, with the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Angels and Rangers clinching playoff spots through the wild card. In the National League, The Show has the Braves, Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers winning the divisions with the St. Louis Cardinals, Mets and Padres grabbing wild-card spots.
The Show has Justin Turner of the Red Sox (.323) and Freddie Freeman (.335) of the Dodgers winning the batting titles, Alvarez (45 HR, 111 RBIs) and Alonso (46 HR, 125 RBIs) knocking in the most homers and RBIs andBubba Thompson of the Rangers (47 stolen bases) and Trea Turner (40 stolen bases) of the Phillies swiping the most bags.
On the pitching side, the game has Kevin Gausman of the Blue Jays (20 wins) and Walker Buehler of the Dodgers (19 wins) posting the most victories, Aaron Civale of the Guardians (2.40 ERA) and Miles Mikolas of the Cardinals (2.44 ERA) with the lowest ERA and Spencer Strider of the Braves (214 strikeouts) and deGrom (244 strikeouts) totaling the most punchouts.
The game also projected the Home Run Derby, which featured Julio Rodriguez, Giancarlo Stanton, Rafael Devers, Manny Machado, Austin Riley, Nolan Arenado, Alvarez and Alonso, with Devers coming out on top beating Alvarez in the finals.
