MOSCOW -- Former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev has been hospitalized in Moscow, Russian state-run media reports.

The 83-year-old said in a radio interview that his health is deteriorating but he's determined to fight for his life.

He revealed only that he's being treated for the recurrence of an illness, but Gorbachev does suffer from a severe form of diabetes.

He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1990 for helping bring the Cold War to an end.
