NORTHRIDGE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Two ice cream shop employees were held at gunpoint during an armed robbery in front of customers Saturday night in Northridge.
The suspect entered Uncle Louie G, in the 8200 block of White Oak Avenue, at about 9:25 p.m. and pulled out a gun. Surveillance video shows the suspect approaching the register and ordering customers to stay still while he robbed the business.
"I thought he was joking at first, because he ran in and he said, 'Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,' really quiet, and I just smiled and I said, 'Welcome.' He said (to) get the money out of the drawer and he showed us his gun and that was that," said Uncle Louie G cashier Phoebe Cantila, who noted the man didn't take the tip jar.
The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.
The shop, which sells ice cream and Italian ice, opened three months ago.
Los Angeles police were investigating the incident.
