VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An alleged drunk driver caused a multi-vehicle accident in the Van Nuys area Sunday night.

Authorities say the crash happened at the intersection of Sherman Way and Allott Avenue just before 11:30 p.m.

Witnesses say the driver was weaving through the street trying to avoid traffic.

"The dude passed me at about 140 miles per hour, 140 easy," said witness Lamon Pogues. "As soon as he passed me, I'm like, 'That fool's going to die.'"

Five cars were involved in the violent collision, and wreckage was seen all over the street. At least one person was rushed to the hospital.

The man was arrested, accused of drunk driving. His name has not been released. Police have not said exactly how fast the suspect was driving.
