Man shot to death in Westmont; investigation underway

WESTMONT, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department homicide detectives are investigating the shooting death of a man in Westmont.

Authorities responded to the 1400 block of W. 102nd Street on reports of a shooting around 9:21 p.m. Tuesday. When authorities arrived, they found a male shooting victim.

During the preliminary investigation, detectives learned the victim was walking westbound on the street when a suspect exited a white SUV parked along the curb. The suspect pulled out a handgun and began firing.

The suspect then got back into the car and drove away, heading westbound down the road. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation was ongoing.
