Shootout suspect arrested, hostages released

LOS ANGELES All three suspects were arrested.

Two men were detained directly after the shootout, but LAPD officers had been hunting for a third suspect Thursday evening with the aid of a K-9 unit and a police helicopter.

That suspect was arrested about 5:30 p.m. after releasing two hostages he had taken in a Westlake apartment, located on the 3000 block of West Fifth Street, according to the LAPD.

The LAPD responded to a report of a robbery at a check-cashing business on the 2900 block of Beverly Boulevard just after 10 a.m.

When officers arrived, they were confronted by suspects and shots were fired. No one was injured in the exchange.
